Faces of Web3: Simon Harding & Lisa Wade, Fableration
May 26, 2025

In the fast-evolving world of Web3 and digital identity, Simon Harding and Lisa Wade are building something unique at Fableration—a platform that combines storytelling, blockchain, and social impact to empower communities and preserve truth.

Simon, with a background in immersive media and emerging tech, brings deep expertise in using storytelling as a tool for transformation. He’s spent years exploring how digital experiences can shape human understanding and memory — a vision that sits at the core of Fableration.

Lisa, a well-known figure in ethical finance and sustainable investing, brings leadership experience across blockchain innovation, ESG, and financial inclusion. Her focus is on driving systems change that puts purpose and people first.

Together, they’re not just building tech — they’re creating a movement around meaningful, values-led innovation. Fableration is their response to a digital world that needs more connection, more context, and more care.

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED in the Web3 space?

Simon: I actually wrote about this on Medium. It’s an interesting story. A professional writer meets blockchain guru and they start to talk about world-changing solutions. Suffice to say, I’m new, but I’m totally sold. Web3 technology will change the world as we know it.

Lisa: Mine happened gradually and then all of a sudden, literally over a Pizza in Bangalow a friend had started trading Bitcoin very early on, and I for years thought it was an interesting trading set up, then someone told me it was infinitely divisible, not just 21million, then I saw the potential of it and I was hook, line and sinker – we were building Community Models as part of Community Super and we could see it would transform really difficult real world use cases. #blockchAIn4good

What was your motivator to found Fableration?

Simon: I guess we scratched the surface of the publishing industry and just kept on scratching until we could uncover no more! Why is it so hard for authors to make money from writing books? Quite simply, because of the brokenomics of the market. With Fableration, we’re changing that forever – and we’re making it so readers can discover new stories and new tastes, not live on a diet of books others have paid for them to be fed. In short, I want to help the world’s authors bring their stories to market.

Lisa: I am an assist on this one, I have created a number of projects, my current PA is NEOMI and we tokenise impact and run and NFT Auction for charity – I am happy to work on and with any project that is #blockchain4good Fableration is a breakout model as the tokenomics is linked to real world value in the platform and we have been trying to crack that code since day 1.

The definition of ‘Web3’ is quite broad and varies depending on the industry backgrounds of the people you speak to. How do you define the term?

Simon: For me, Web3 is a vision of the future. It’s the great leveller; a world in which the many are finally able to break free of the hold the tiny few have over their wealth, their knowledge – and their lives. In the case of Fableration, it’s publishing of the people, by the people, for the people.

Lisa: For me Web3 is how I live my life – I eat and sleep it, most of my transactions are Web3 native and I move to Web2 rails to exist in society and I see a day soon I won’t really need to.

What do you determine to be the biggest societal opportunities that Web3 brings?

Simon: How bold are you feeling? In the book, Blockchainsim, we address issues of money, power, democracy, taxation, education and war. You should check it out – it’ll get you thinking!

Lisa: For me it is personal data, some may call this Web5 – right now, as humans our Data is everywhere – the biggest change will be becoming our own data identity. Instead of giving our data out to everyone, trusted intermediaries validate it and the validation credentials are good enough – think of it as inviting apps into your own walled garden, not having your identity data EVERYWHERE!

And what do you see as the biggest challenge that the Web3 community faces?

Simon: There is such an irony in the idea that a platform built on the very definition of trust and transparency should be treated with such trepidation by those who come across it for the first time. Like any new technology, Web3 sparks fear into those who have been filled with half-truths about what exactly blockchain is all about. That’s why projects like Fableration are so important to helping mainstream adoption of Web3. It’s blockchain for good—blockchain as it was always meant to be. And the more platforms like this that we can use to help improve the lives of people across the world, the more people will see blockchain for the gift it is.

Lisa: The on-ramp and user experience – we need to get better at this. We need to engage and educate the community to see the value of rails that the average human shouldn’t even know exist, let alone have to care about. That’s why real world use cases like Fableration are so, so important.

What are some career highlights in your Web3 journey?

Simon:the highlight to date for me was that our Fableration project ticked all the boxes for someone like Lisa to embrace the idea wholeheartedly. It means so much to see someone with such an outstanding reputation in the Web3 industry flying the flag for the world’s authors.

Lisa: Impactio was my first, so favourite, followed closely by co-founding Carbon Place, project Atom was cool as it is still the same blueprint for much of the real world asset tokenisation that’s happening. BTXX was the hardest therefore feels biggest – NEOMI and #blockchAIn4good are the most personal and of course Fableration is the BEST! There are two that I think will be the biggest game changers and are still too early – flexistack and the shared value funding ecosystem, so watch out for those in a few years.

What’s coming up for you and your business in 2025?

Simon: there’s the small matters of navigating a BETA launch, fundraising and growing our community. Every day brings a new challenge, but we’ve got the team, the drive and the dream to make it happen.

Lisa: Fableration will do GREAT things!!!!!!!!

What inspires you to stay motivated professionally?

Simon: The rejections I received as an author. They spurred me on to not only become a better writer, but to tackle the glaring problems in the industry head on. And I won’t stop until we’ve created a fair market where every new story stands an equal chance of being read.

Lisa: I practice yoga and meditate daily. I have a great mentor who keeps it all real for me.

When you’re not working, where would we most likely find you?

Simon: Let’s be honest, there’s not much downtime at the moment! But when there is, I’ll be spending it with my family. When the dust settles, you’ll find me at a keyboard, writing. I’ll be working to bring my own stories to a fair and equitable market.

Lisa: On my yoga mat in my favourite place Bangalow, NSW.
